Lisa Robinson

After class last thursday, I became interested in Lisa Robinson's snow photography. I love how the white almost gives off a "clean" feeling and I love the small accents of color against it. It's very calming and pretty to look at.

Daytime/Nighttime Photography

So, I decided to look for and compare some pictures taken during different times of the day, to go with this week's assignment. These are some of the ones I found. (And, yes, I decided to stick with a theme...):

Dawn

Daytime

Dusk

Nighttime

I personally like the daytime one the least and the 2 night ones the best. I guess the daytime colors just seem too bright and blue for me. I find the different colors and lights in the sky to be what really makes the image and I love how they reflect off the water . Even the dawn picture has a more appealing range of colors (I really enjoy how the yellow from the sun adds to the image and I think the way the sun was photographed was perfect and not distracting, like in many other photographs I've seen with the sun in it). Therefore, I have decided that early in the morning and late in the evening would be the ideal times of the day to go out and take pictures. But, of course, that just applies to beach horizons...

Darren Holmes

So, as I was researching photos to go with my brainstorm project, I came across this photographer's work and instantly fell in love with it.

I LOVE his use of color! It's very dark and muted, but at the same time, there are colors that also seem very bright and really pop out in the photos. I also love the dark, dreamlike elements in his work. The models always have the best expressions and a lot of their poses tend to be very twisty and add a sense of mystery to the image.

I'm not really sure how else to explain them, other than that they're just amazing and creepy and mysterious and awesome! These were always the types of photos I liked the best and I always enjoy finding new photographers like this one. I'm really glad I found his site! :D
